“Transferring the way of seeing the world as human beings to the animal world is an increasingly frequent phenomenon nowadays”, experts from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) say.

However, they point out that Humanizing pets can cause serious harm to them, since behaviors that are not typical of their species are required of them.

“Animals are a fundamental part of the family, however, subjecting them to human activities can be harmful, since by pretending that they behave as people, expectations are placed on them out of context, which restrict their proper development” .

According to the specialists, treating a human like dog, cat or any pet The forms of communication, social organization and rules of coexistence typical of each species are disregarded.

In addition, their well-being is limited by generating a high degree of anxiety.

Thus, vets suggest giving pets the freedom to express their behavior normal and perform activities appropriate to their species.
