The Polestar 1 is a large and obsolete hybrid coupe. “Polestar 2“- a fully electric family car with a 78 kWh battery. The Polestar 3 will be a US-made electric SUV designed to compete with theTesla Model X“- it will appear next year. Production of the Polestar 4, meanwhile, is set to begin in 2023, and company chief Thomas Ingenlath has revealed what the car will look like.
By 2024, Polestar will introduce three new electric cars, the 3, 4 and 5. The Polestar 4 will be a small and affordable SUV. And this news is probably not surprising given Volvo’s focus. Perhaps the only interesting thing is that Ingenlath promises that Polestar 4 will be affordable – much cheaper than 3.
The Polestar 3 is an XC90 SUV with a stylish, modern and sleek design. It will be a luxury electric car, which will cost from 75 thousand euros. The Polestar 4 will be slightly smaller, have a coupe-like silhouette and will cost about 45 thousand euros. This is a huge difference, although a lot of luxury will be expected at that price.
Interestingly, the Polestar 3 and 4 will vary slightly in length, but of course the latter will be slightly shorter and have a lower roof line. The Polestar 4 will be like the 2nd brand model SUV version. Polestar 3 and 4 are likely to use the same engine configuration.
Polestar 4 will appear in 2023, Polestar 5 in another year. The sedan is likely to be aimed atPorsche TaycanPolestar 5 is likely to have a sports version. Especially considering that Polestar has historically given Volvo’s factory character a sporty character.
By the way, we mentioned that the Polestar 3 and 5 should be very luxury cars. Nevertheless, you will not find leather in them – Polestar and Volvo have decided to abandon it completely in electric cars.
Polestar’s and Volvo’s electrification strategy is clear and proactive enough. Chinese funding for the historic Swedish brand will be crucial. The Polestar name is not yet in the top ten electric cars, but it may change in the next 3 years.
