Jokowi Gives New Position, Luhut Immediately Fly Check IKN

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially appointed the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Chair of the Special Task Force (Satgasus) for the Acceleration of Investment in the Archipelago Capital (IKN) on Tuesday (15/5/2023).

Two days after the inauguration, Luhut directly observed the progress of the IKN development on Wednesday (17/5/2023), including President Jokowi’s Palace.

“The task force will play a coordinating role across ministries/institutions, in accordance with the role of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment. We will periodically check progress on the field,” said Luhut in an official statement, Friday (19/5/2023).

Luhut wants to ensure that priority infrastructure development is running according to the target. He made a visit to the project location for the Minister’s Footprint Residence, the Western National Axis, and the Presidential Palace.

This visit was a follow-up after President Joko Widodo appointed the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment to be the Chairperson of the Special Task Force (Satgasus) for the Acceleration of Investments in IKN. In addition, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs wants to ensure that priority infrastructure development is running according to the target.

Luhut’s main task is to coordinate interdepartmentally and also all related institutions so that the process of accelerating investment in IKN can run better and more efficiently.

Luhut emphasized that the most important part that needs to be resolved immediately is the land issue, so that everything can provide certainty for investors to invest, including the issue of land prices which need to be determined with the correct mechanism through an appraisal.

Previously, Head of OIKN Bambang Susantono said, the President ordered his staff to speed up the process so that investment in IKN could be realized in accordance with the corridors of the applicable laws and regulations, including the settlement of land issues.

“We want everything to be clean and clear, that’s the term, so what will be offered to these investors are lands that are already mature and we know the price so they can calculate it right away,” said the Head of the IKN Authority in his press statement after attending a meeting chaired by by the President at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (15/05/2023).
