Junior Edmilson has crowned himself with Al-Duhail as champion of Qatar. The Brazilian Belgian, who is linked to Club Brugge, scored the only goal against Al-Ahli on the final matchday of the Qatar Star League. Will he return to Belgium as champion?
Edmilson left Standard two years ago for an adventure in the Middle East with Al-Duhail. Until now that has been a success story.
After winning the Emir Cup last season, Edmilson and his team took the Qatari national title last night. In the last game against Al-Ahli, the 26-year-old flank attacker scored the only goal.
Al-Duhail closes the Qatar Stars League as champion with one point ahead of major competitor Al-Rayyan. Al-Sadd, Xavi’s team, is third.
“No Sweat No Glory”
Emilson did not extend his contract with Al-Duhail until 2024, but he said he was open to a return to the Jupiler Pro League. Club Brugge would have the best cards to recruit him. It would be one year’s rent, with a purchase option of 15 million euros.
On Instagram, Emilson posted an image with the caption “No Sweat No Glory” after the title won. (Coincidentally) Also the slogan of … Club Brugge. Will we see it in blue-black colors soon?
