Ludwigshafen. The board members of the CDU district associations Ludwigshafen, Frankenthal and Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis have spoken out in favor of Torbjörn Kartes (photo) running again for the 2021 federal election. The 41-year-old lawyer was unanimously proposed as a candidate in their respective meetings, the Union announced on Friday. The nomination conference with 60 delegates from the three district associations is expected to take place on November 28th.
“Our clear vote is at the same time a signal that we are going into the federal election campaign with conviction and conviction,” explains Gabriele Bindert, chairwoman of the CDU district association Frankenthal. The common goal is to win the constituency directly again. “In the Bundestag during this electoral term, I was very committed to the compatibility of family and work, to a balanced labor market and social policy and to ensuring that families in our country are doing well. I would like to build on that, ”said Kartes, who has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017. He won the direct mandate in the constituency of Ludwigshafen / Frankenthal with a narrow lead of 450 votes against Doris Barnett (SPD). Before that, Kartes was HR manager at Technischen Werke Ludwigshafen (TWL) AG.
At the beginning of the electoral term he had given up the chairmanship of the CDU city council group in Ludwigshafen, since then he has been district chairman. He lives with his wife, who is a doctor, and their two sons on Park Island. ott (Image: CDU)
