Kawhi Leonard he made seven baskets in a row, opening a good run for scissors and its new partners.
"This is a great show of leadership"said coach Doc Rivers. "Speak through his game."
Leonard started his adventure on Tuesday with the Clippers scoring 30 points in the 112-102 victory over LeBron James and the Lakers, in the first meeting of the season for the two teams in Los Angeles.
Clippers' substitutes took advantage of the start of the season to be shown: Lou Williams contributed 21 points and Montrezl Harrell added 17.
The Clippers started their 50th season and 36th in Los Angeles with a new investiture. Many now consider them the favorites to win the NBA title, which would be the first in the history of the organization.
"It's one of the 82 games," Rivers added. "Next question."
Leonard won his second NBA ring last season with Toronto.
For their part, the Lakers had the first opportunity to showcase their new stellar pool, composed by James and Anthony Davis. Davis scored 25 points, hitting nine of the 14 free throws, while James added 18 points.
"For us, we both attack," said Davis. "Sometimes we don't understand each other. I failed a couple of times and he failed, so we're trying to solve it."
Danny Green beat them both with 28 points.
But Leonard contributed quite a bit, even without Paul George by his side, idle for an indefinite period while he was recovering from a couple of shoulder surgeries he underwent during recreation before this nascent campaign.
