La Jornada – The vaccination campaign against Covid has not been politicized: Sánchez Cordero

Before state leaders, the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, asserted that the national anti-Covid vaccination campaign has not been politicized, and warned that doing so will only delay the application of the biological. There is no time to obtain political gains or to divide the population, he said.

“I am very pleased that this vaccination campaign has not been politicized. We have all understood that it is time to work in unity for the benefit of all the citizens of this great nation. We have come this far thanks to dialogue, ”he said during the virtual session with governors and / or their representatives.

The vaccination strategy advances; The unity and cooperation that the Mexican government has established with the states and municipalities has been key to its implementation for the benefit of thousands of Mexican men and women, he said.

He reported that a proposal was received from the Business Coordinating Council to support financing in the purchase of vaccines, and for this purpose the establishment of a technical table with the private sector is being proposed.

The official said that as was said today at the meeting, not only are doctors and nurses who are in the first line of care for Covid patients but there are others who provide direct care with people such as those in supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations , among others.

Federal officials – headed by the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer – 15 governors and 10 representatives participated in the session.

According to consulted sources, the governors expressed their doubts about the national vaccination plan; some asked why states cannot buy biological directly from the manufacturer.

However, the dialogue was cordial; the governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, expressed his willingness to work with the federation, a matter for which Secretary Sánchez Cordero thanked.

In principle, the official said in her message that the receipt of this new shipment of more than 200 thousand doses that arrived in our country this week and the conclusion with its delivery today adds to this titanic work to advance, with solid steps, towards the end “I would say of this real nightmare.”

The complications have been many – he added – but with resilience we are facing the same changes in the scenario that the global situation is marking us so that this gear continues with precision, it is necessary to maintain unity.

“Given the uncertainty caused by the virus, we must counter attack with these coordinated joint and co-responsible actions. Certainty is not given by a vaccine but by everyone with unity, example and teamwork, ”he said.

He stressed that the vaccination strategy is based on saving the greatest number of lives and guaranteeing the right to health.

The call is to continue working together as representatives of the three levels of government.

“The consequences of not doing so and appealing to the division are clear: it will only delay the vaccination scheme and cause undifferentiated access to the vaccine and deepen the abyss of inequality in our country,” said Sánchez Cordero.

He indicated that the federal government works tirelessly to diversify the sources of supply of vaccines.

He reiterated the opening of the Interior to serve the governors without distinction.
