Lactalis: For the prefecture of Mayenne, there is nothing new in the case of contaminated milk

We have been able to consult this document. This is a table of self-checks made in Craon by a laboratory that works for the Mayenne industrial. Reveals the analyzes carried out on the products and on the environment of the drying towers, between 2008 and 2016. There are thousands of them.

Warnings have been issued indicating the presence of bacteria with strange names like Anatum, Naples, Kedougou, this is for the site's environment. Nothing very new considers the Prefecture that we have contacted. An official from the Ministry of Agriculture had said before the Senate Committee of Inquiry.

Patrick Dehaumont is the general director of food and this is what he said a few months ago to the senators: "We found a discrepancy between the inspection tests and the self-checks we recovered after the crisis, with salmonella agona found in 2009 and 2014. Salmonella was found in product in 2011 and other serotypes in 2013 and 2014".

For the products, there were a dozen consumer notices with the presence of dead insects or iron in milk boxes. Again, this is not a surprise according to the prefecture. Laurence Deflesselle, deputy director of the veterinary services of Mayenne, also explained to the deputies in April: "We had a report on the presence of a foreign body, the iron filings in 2015. A consumer notice that was treated".

In a statement, the Lactalis group defends itself, denies any violation of health, remembers that the positive analyzes concern only the environment of the production of milk powder and insists that it would never put on the market a contaminated product.

The association of the families of the victims of salmonella-contaminated milk, for its part, requires the final closure of the Craon plant "in view of the presence of a dozen types of salmonella for more than ten years, the incompetence of Lactalis to destroy them and provide state services to ensure the controls necessary to ensure healthy products".
