Interior Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management said in a statement from the presidency, “according to Turkey Disaster Response Plan, search and rescue, health, in order to run without interruption of support work, the Interior Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) in coordination, 28 working groups, It was put into operation on a 24/7 basis. An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude occurred on January 24, 2020 at 20.55 in Elazig province, Sivrice district. According to Turkey Disaster Response Plan, search and rescue, health, in order to run without interruption of support work, the Interior Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) in coordination, 28 working groups were activated by the 7 days to work 24 hours basis. Damaged structures should not be entered in the disaster area. It is very important to prefer web-based applications and SMS in phone calls if possible. Natural gas and water valves and electrical switches should be closed. Roads should be left blank for emergency vehicles. Our citizens should never use their phones unless they need urgent help. Support for babies, children, the elderly and the disabled who may need help should be supported. AFAD follows the developments continuously ”.
