Legend Pele leaves hospital after receiving treatment for colon tumor

Beirut – Salwa Yassin – Follow up with impartiality: Yesterday evening, Thursday, a news report said that Brazilian football legend Pele was discharged from hospital after receiving further treatment due to a colon tumor that he discovered several months ago.

And the Brazilian “G1” news website quoted Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, that Pele, who has been in the hospital since last Monday, is in good and stable condition.

At the beginning of last September, Pele, 81, underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his colon, which was detected during regular examinations.

After the surgery, Pele was initially treated in the intensive care unit and spent about a month in the hospital.

Last December, Pele returned to the hospital and spent two weeks there to continue treatment, then he was admitted again in February for a longer period due to the discovery of a urinary tract infection.

Pele’s health has raised many concerns in recent years, as he underwent hip surgeries and suffers from problems in the spine and knees.

Two years ago, Pele underwent an operation to remove a kidney stone after suffering a urinary tract infection.

During his career, Pele played 92 matches with the Brazilian national team and won the World Cup three times in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
