Leica introduced a full-frame camera M11 with a 60-megapixel sensor at a price of 709,750 rubles

Leica has introduced the latest addition to the M series of cameras, the new M11 model, which combines the advantages of classic rangefinder cameras with the capabilities of modern technology. The novelty, outwardly very similar to the representatives of the previous M10 series, has already gone on sale at a price of $8995. In Russia, its cost will be 709,750 rubles.

The most significant upgrade in the camera is a new 60-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Variable Resolution technology that delivers high image quality while fully exploiting the optical potential of modern Leica M System APO lenses. cameras and continuous shooting duration, and the file size is reduced.

Along with the new sensor, the M11 uses a new ultra-thin IR and UV blocking filter, which consists of two ultra-thin glasses connected to each other. According to the company, thanks to the updated array of color filters, the camera provides more natural color reproduction.

The new camera offers an ISO sensitivity range of 64 to 50,000, a dynamic range of up to 15 stops, and image recording at 14-bit color depth. The powerful Maestro III processor guarantees performance even at the highest resolution. Electronics allows you to work out shutter speeds up to 1/16,000 s and shoot even in bright sunlight with a lens with a wide open aperture without using ND filters.

For the first time on an M-family camera, matrix metering is available when shooting through the rangefinder, ensuring accurate exposure even in low light.

In terms of appearance, the main difference between the M11 and its predecessors is the absence of Leica’s proprietary bottom panel, which had to be removed to load film or replace memory cards and batteries on previous models.

The removal of the bottom panel provided direct access to the battery, USB Type-C port and SD card. The amount of built-in memory is 64 GB. The M11 is the first camera in the M family with the ability to store images on two media at the same time.

The 1800 mAh battery is reported to provide up to 64% energy savings. The new universal USB Type-C port allows charging with most available chargers.

It should be noted that a new version of the software will be released in the second half of 2022, thanks to which the Leica FOTOS app will have the ability to embed geolocation data, access images via Bluetooth, and also increase the data transfer rate. The Leica M11 is an Apple Certified Accessory – Made for iPhone and iPad. You can use its privileges with the help of a special Leica FOTOS wire supplied in the kit.

The company also released new accessories: a 3.7-megapixel Visoflex 2 external electronic viewfinder with an increased diopter adjustment range (from -4 to +3) and the ability to tilt the viewfinder by 90°, and a specially designed grip equipped with a Tripod Mount that allows connect Leica M11 to standard Arca-Swiss tripod heads without additional equipment.
