Lisbon Zoo celebrates the birth of a calf of an extinct species in the wild | tours

On World Animal Day, celebrated on the 4th of October, the Lisbon Zoo will present to the public the most recent calf of scimitar oryx (Oryx dammah) who was born in the Portuguese zoo. Birth is particularly “special” because it is a species classified as “Extinct in the Wild” since 2000 by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
