Saturday race live:
Porsche GT3 CUP – for the first time in the Baltic States
Saturday morning Kajus Šikšnelis (17), who started in the front of the Porsche Sprint Challenge NEZ line-up after excellent qualification, was pleased with the beautiful images. Kajus will start in Imola next week In the Italian Porsche Carrera Cup race. So starting in Riga and fighting for every subway is a great training for him. Tomas Podovani climbed on his heels, but the Lithuanian proved to be faster and tore off in 14 seconds for more than 2 seconds. Only in the last lap did the pace slow down somewhat.
A very nice duel for the fifth place took place between Mantas Janavičius and Olli Kangas. In the first turn, the racers repeatedly changed positions. However, Mantas regained his position several times and maintained P5.
As last year, in the BTC1 / 2/3 race, the pace in both races was dictated by the Lithuanian trio – Aurimas Mištautas, Izidorius Paukštys, Robertas Zauka. However, Simo Lind took second place in the second run. The great performance of Aurimas Mištautas for the second year in a row.
On Saturday, as always, the BMW 325 CUP boiled into fierce fighting. There is always a real battle going on in this race. Karolis Jovaiša – P2, who had already shone last year, performed best in the first race from Lithuania.
In the second BMW battle, Karolis finished again after Valters Zviedris. The third is Edvinas Žadeikis.
Saturday crowned the BEC at 6 p.m. racing. They were led by the Porsche Baltic team. The 911 GT3 Cup was piloted by Andrius Šlimas, Nerijus Dagilis and Paulius Žedeika. This 911 is equipped with a 3,996 cc, 6-cylinder Boxer engine generating 375 kW (510 hp), a sequential 6-speed transmission and even a 110-liter fuel tank.
BEC 6 p.m. EU Motorsport Porsche remained second in the race. In the fourth position is Orlen Lietuva, which was unexpectedly joined by Ernesta Globytė, who raced on the Spa track a week ago.
The third is the Finnish Black Rose Racing.
The Porsche Baltic team with the Cayman GT4 finished second in the fifth long-distance race.
Although the winners of last year’s separate categories “RD Signs Šiauliai” and the sprint record holder Sim Racer will not start in the first stage of the championship this year, many excellent racers from Lithuania will join the championship. Let’s say it is very interesting how Mantas Matukaitis’ team, which acquired Sim Racer’s Lamborghini Huracan ST Evo, which last year improved its track records – in Latvia and Estonia – will succeed.
Finns Mika Makinen is going to appear in the race with the Mercedes Benz C63AMG. Lithuanian Kasparas Vaškelis at the wheel of the Hyundai i30N will seek victory in the TCR sprint series.
In the V1600 class – the debut of Lithuanian Vidmantas Pociūnas with the Mazda MX5. In other classes – traditionally, extremely large Lithuanian forces. More about individual weekend races, the longest of which is 6 p.m. read here.
