The restaurant Der Rote Hirsch in Esslingen will no longer open even after the corona-related lockdown. According to the managing director Christian List, the restaurant no longer shows “no future horizon”. The bars of the same name in Bad Cannstatt and Fellbach remained.
Esslingen – The Red Deer in Esslingen is a thing of the past after just over two years. The restaurant in the old carpentry will not reopen after the closure due to Corona, as the managing director Christian List confirms. He “pulled the emergency brake” to “protect” the two other restaurants of the same name in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt and in Fellbach (Rems-Murr district).
The loss of income due to the corona-related closure since March 20, as well as the high room costs in the old carpentry in the old town of Esslingen, would have shown “no future horizon” anymore, says List. Especially since the deficits could no longer be compensated for after the cancellation of the Esslinger Sommer culinary festival on the market square. The bars in Bad Cannstatt and Fellbach were more stable, with an event agency and catering service also connected. Because of this and through more moderate operating costs, the company is positioned differently there.
