London police arrested a rich Russian

London police arrested a rich Russian businessman, his name has not yet been released. A 58-year-old man is suspected of money laundering, perjury and the creation of a fraudulent group.

More than 50 police officers intervened in a luxurious London house on Thursday. In addition to the aforementioned Russian citizen, two more people were arrested, while the police detained a 35-year-old man as he tried to flee the scene with a bag containing thousands of pounds in cash. All three arrested were later released on bail.

The raid was carried out by a specialized anti-kleptocracy unit, which was created this year, among other things, to prosecute people trying to circumvent anti-Russian sanctions enacted in response to the war in Ukraine.

The head of the National Crime Agency, Graeme Biggar, said the unit has had considerable success in investigating the potentially criminal activities of oligarchs. “We will continue to deploy all forces and tactics to eliminate this threat,” he said. (plural)
