President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko asked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to convey to German Chancellor Angela Merkel a request not to interfere in the affairs of Belarus, said the press secretary of the Belarusian leader Natalia Eismont. Her words leads Telegram-channel RT.
She said that Lukashenka himself does not see the need for a conversation with Merkel, believing that the effect of communication will most likely be negative. “How will it look if, in parallel with the talks with Putin, the President of Belarus will also discuss something with Merkel? In our opinion, this is at least undignified. The President of Belarus at this stage simply does not see the need for this conversation, ”Eismont commented on the appeal.
The Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov also answered questions about the latest contacts between Putin and Lukashenko. He noted the need to be in constant dialogue against the background of the events in Belarus.
Earlier, on August 18, it was reported that the heads of the two countries again phoned and discussed Putin’s talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
