On Monday, two workers were busy preparing for blasting in a gravel pit in Charmey FR. One of them fell so badly that he died.

The cantonal police in Freiburg had to move out on Monday morning due to an accident at work. Two workers were busy preparing for blasting in a gravel pit in Charmey FR. One of the two fell into the gravel pit for unknown reasons and injured himself on boulders that were at the bottom of the pit. The second worker immediately alerted the rescue workers. They provided first aid on site.
The 45-year-old worker from the canton of Obwalden was then flown to a hospital with Rega. The man succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening, as reported by the Cantonal Police in Freiburg on Tuesday. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
