Rio de Janeiro authorities said Thursday that the Maracana Sports Complex in Brazil, which has the most famous football field in the world, will be turned into a makeshift hospital to help fight the Corona virus.
With the spread of cases in Brazil, which numbered more than 2,900 cases by Thursday, the authorities used sports facilities and transferred them to temporary hospitals.
77 people died of the virus.
The Brazilian Football Confederation decided to suspend the local season due to the virus.
The Maracana stadium hosted the 2014 World Cup final and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
