Marítimo wins in stoppage time and stamps the descent of “Paços” and Santa Clara

A goal, at 90+5 minutes, gave the triumph to the island team, in the reception to the Vizelians. The win secures playoff participation for maintenance. Paços de Ferreira and Santa Clara, who occupy the last two places, are relegated.

Marítimo won, this Friday (1-0), at home, against Vizela, in the opening game of the 33rd round of the League and guaranteed qualification for the playoff, with the third place in Liga 2.

A goal by Claúdio Winck, at 90+5, gave the islanders victory and dictated the relegation of Santa Clara and Paços de Ferreira.

The team coached by José Gomes now has 26 points, six more than Paços de Ferreira, which has 20, and seven more than Santa Clara, which totals 19.

So far afflicted only play during the weekend, but are condemned to relegation. Santa Clara hosts Portimonense this Saturday (3.30 pm), while Paços de Ferreira, on Sunday (6 pm), will play at home against Rio Ave.
