REDMOND (awp international) – Microsoft wants to establish its software, which was originally intended for use in the office, more in the private life of users. In addition to office programs such as Word and Excel, an extended family subscription under the new name Microsoft 365 will in future also offer software teams suitable for working together and video conferencing, as well as a child protection app. Microsoft is thus becoming a competitor for Google and Apple, among others.
Microsoft leaves the price for up to six users at ten euros a month. Microsoft manager Yusuf Mehdi told the German press agency that the offer on Monday should ensure a seamless transition between private and professional use.

The child protection app is supposed to work across platforms on Apple’s iPhones, Windows 10 computers and Microsoft’s Xbox game console. Parents can use the application to control the usage time of the devices and set restrictions.
The coronavirus crisis, in which people increasingly rely on software tools such as teams when working and studying from home, is a good time to launch the expanded consumer offering. Microsoft started developing more than a year ago, said Mehdi.
The Corona crisis “forever changed how people live and work,” said the Microsoft manager. Even if there will be more personal interactions afterwards – “It will be part of everyday reality that we work from home and are more flexible”. This also applies to education./so/DP/nas
