Microsoft’s Visual Studio for Mac got a complete overhaul with an original UI and more
Microsoft announced that a public preview of Visual Studio 2022 will appear soon. Along with a number of changes and improvements, the latest app development software will bring an all-new version of Mac that includes an original user interface, improved performance and reliability, support for macOS-accessible features, and more.

Along with increased speed and a cleaner design, the app will be 64-bit, lighter, and will offer a better experience for remote collaboration.
The next big release of Visual Studio will be faster, more accessible and lighter, and designed for both learners and those building solutions on an industrial scale. For the first time ever, it will be Visual Studio 64 bit. You will feel a cleaner, smarter and more practical user experience.
Development teams are more geographically dispersed than ever. In the past year, it has become apparent that organizations need their development teams to collaborate securely, deliver solutions faster, and continually improve end-user satisfaction and value. We are facilitating collaboration with better integrations with GitHub, allowing for a seamless transition from concept to code to cloud.
Specifically for Mac OS, Visual Studio 2022 provides completely new original macOS user interface, improved performance and reliability, and can take advantage of all accessibility features of the operating system.
Like the Windows release, Visual Studio 2022 for Mac will come with new GitHub integration.
Our goal with Visual Studio 2022 for Mac is to create a modern .NET IDE designed specifically for the Mac operating system that provides a productivity experience that Visual Studio loved. We are working on moving Visual Studio for Mac to the original user interface, which means it will come with better performance and reliability. It also means Visual Studio for Mac can take full advantage of all the accessibility features included in macOS. We are updating menus and terminology across the IDE to make Visual Studio more consistent between Mac and Windows. The new Git experience from Visual Studio will also arrive in Visual Studio for Mac, starting with the introduction of the Git Changes toolbar.
According to Microsoft, these are just “some key points in our ongoing work, but we welcome your initial thoughts on the direction we’re taking for Visual Studio 2022.”
