The Chinese company GAC entered the Russian market at the end of last year, the first model we had was a large GS8 crossover. However, even then a plan to expand the lineup was announced. In April, certification of the GN8 minivan (in China it is called GM8) was completed, the sale of which will begin in June, and now there is information about the third model. This is the mid-size GS5 crossover, and it will get to dealers closer to the fall.
The current GAC GS5 debuted in the fall of 2018; it is comparable in size to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail. On the Russian market, the GS5 will be available with a turbo four 1.5 (137 hp), which is paired with a six-speed automatic Aisin. The drive is only front-wheel drive, and you can’t count on the appearance of an all-wheel drive version: it is not even on the home market. Crossovers for Russia will be able to boast a panoramic roof, climate control, heating of all seats, a media system with Bluetooth function, as well as all-round cameras.
The price list for GS5 SUVs and GN8 minivans has not yet been published, but the guideline is the price of the seven-seat GS8 crossover, which has not changed since the debut: from 1 million 898 thousand to 2 million 498 thousand rubles. The GN8 single-compartment is expected to cost from two million rubles, but the GS5, on the contrary, will be much cheaper than the “older” crossover. By the way, six months ago, GAC representatives also announced plans to sell GS3 compact SUVs in Russia, but the timing for the start of their deliveries has not yet been announced.
