Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati pledged, in a press conference, Friday, after the Lebanese presidency announced the signing of a decree to form the new government, to work to stop the collapse in Lebanon and restore its prosperity.
Mikati said, in a press conference, after the announcement of the formation of the government, that everyone knows the current situation in Lebanon, adding: “The old, the small, and the swaddled know the situation of the country,” stressing that “the situation is very difficult.”
Mikati continued by saying, “We will work as one team, one hand, to prevent frustration and despair… We are with the whole country, not with a faction against a class or a team against a team, and we are committed to the National Accord Document and the Constitution.”
Mikati also touched on relations with Arab countries, saying that Lebanon “needs the Arab world and what has been cut off has arrived, and has not been interrupted in the first place. Lebanon is proud of its brothers and sisters who have never left it.”
He added, “I hope that we will rise with the government and stop the current collapse, and we will work together with one hand to restore Lebanon to its glory and prosperity.” He continued: “We will not leave a second, but we will save it and use it to contact international institutions to secure the basic needs of Lebanon.”
