A missing teenager from Fort Coulonge died after an accident at the Isle-aux-Allumettes.

Sûreté du Québec says that the 17-year-old Veronique Bourque family called the police at 7:30 am on Tuesday morning after she did not return home. It was believed that Bourque returned to Fort Coulonge from Petawawa Monday night.

On Tuesday at 3.30 pm, an officer found Bourque unconscious in his vehicle, which had rested in the moat near Highway 148. She was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead.

At this point, Sûreté du Québec believes that it was a single-vehicle accident. The investigation continues.
