Even though DJ LeMahieu have said that they would rather stay in New York in the future, not to say that other MLB teams don’t do your effort to try to hire one of the best free agents in this winter market in the major leagues, and one of those organizations has already raised its hand to take the services of second baseman.
According to a report from the New York Post, the Toronto Blue Jays have begun to show interest in offering LeMahieu a good deal, but another report by Jon Morosi of MLB.com assures that the Washington Nationals have shown an interest constant in hiring him.
It wouldn’t be the first time that the 2019 World Series champions in MLB have shown interest in second base, as they also looked for him two years ago when LeMahieu hit free agency and signed a contract with the New York Yankees.
Although the Nationals have signed Starling Castro to cover second base in the 2021 season with a salary of $ 7 million, the team still would have to fill certain gaps at first and third base, positions in which LeMahieu has alternated the last two years with the Yankees.
After winning the MLB title in 2019, the Nationals fell quite deep to 26-34 in the season shortened to 60 games, the third-lowest in the National League and the seventh in MLB. Aside from Juan Soto and Trea Turner, the team’s offense has a lot of questions.
