JawaPos.com – Last month, it was reported that Facebook is testing new features for the Messenger application. The new feature referred to is Face ID-based biometric security technology or face identification to protect the user’s message.
This means that every time a user tries to open an application, they can hide it behind Face ID. This aims to ensure that only authorized users can view messages in the application.
Besides Face ID, there is also support for Touch ID. The Touch ID feature is intended for older iPhone models or older devices that do not have a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. This feature is known as App Lock and can be activated through application settings.
As for Android users, App Lock will be available in the next few months. So, for now, this feature seems exclusive to iOS devices.
Facebook actually introduced a similar feature to WhatsApp in 2019. Given that Facebook has WhatsApp, we don’t think it’s surprising that they will expand this feature to Messenger as well.
