More than 3 million corona tests have been carried out so far in Germany. Over 197,100 of these were positive, reports the Robert Koch-Institut (RKI), the German counterpart to the RIVM, in a report about which German media reports.
The infection number differs considerably from the daily reporting of the RKI. He reports 173,152 cases of infection today, writes Reuters news agency. Where the difference comes from and why, for example, the figures have not yet been corrected are not clear.
In late March and early April, most people were tested positive for the virus. About 9 percent of the more than 400,000 tests taken around that time were positive. That percentage has now dropped to 2.7 percent, the RKI reports.
The test criteria in Germany are becoming increasingly flexible. Germans with milder virus symptoms are now also allowed to undergo a corona test, which increases the number of tests performed. Last week, 382,000 Germans were checked for the coronavirus. According to the RKI, the test capacity is even higher.
