Between November 13 and 19, there were an average of 268.3 hospital admissions per day due to coronavirus, an increase of 29% compared to the previous reference period according to figures from the Institute Public Health Sciensano updated Saturday morning.
In total, 2,957 people are still hospitalized due to Covid-19, including 603 patients treated in intensive care.
Between November 10 and 16, 12,054 new Sars-CoV-2 contaminations were detected on average per day, up 19% from the previous week. Since the start of the pandemic in Belgium, more than 1.6 million cases of coronavirus infection have been diagnosed.
Over the period studied, an average of 30.9 people died per day as a result of the virus (+ 29%), bringing the toll to 26,568 deaths since the start of the health crisis in Belgium.
Nearly 85,109 tests on average were also performed daily, for a positivity rate of 14.4%.
The virus’s reproduction rate is 1.18. When it is greater than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic is tending to accelerate. The incidence, which indicates the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 1,346 over 14 days.
