Moreno opens the round of contacts with Díaz to analyze coronavirus measures

Seville, Mar 13 (EFE) .- The president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, has opened with the leader of the PSOE-A, Susana Díaz, the round of contacts with the spokesmen of the Andalusian parties to inform them about the measures that are being adopting in the community to cope with the coronavirus crisis.

Díaz, who has interrupted her maternity leave to attend this meeting, has arrived at the Palacio de San Telmo, headquarters of the Presidency of the Board, ten minutes before the appointment, although the meeting began fifteen minutes late.

This round of contacts takes place hours after the Andalusian Government decided to suspend, starting next Monday and for two weeks, all teaching activity in educational centers, as a preventive measure against the pandemic.

The Andalusian Executive thus follows the recommendation of the central government to close all educational centers in the country, taking into account the principle of “loyalty and responsibility,” Moreno said.

Sports facilities attached to the Board will also be temporarily closed and activity will be suspended in all day centers, day stay units and occupational centers for the elderly, disabled, mental health or addictions.

In addition, all cultural activities in scenic areas dependent on the Board, visits to museums and monuments are suspended, measures that will be formally agreed this afternoon in an extraordinary Governing Council.

The Andalusian Executive also agreed two days ago the reinforcement of health personnel, the closure of pensioners’ homes, the postponement of oppositions and the disinfection of public transport, among other measures.

Andalusia so far has 158 positive cases of coronavirus and most of them are registered in the province of Malaga, where there are a total of 97.

The Chairman of the Board will hold successive meetings throughout the morning with the spokesmen of all the parties to convey the situation first-hand.

At the end of each meeting, each of the spokespersons will appear before the media. EFE
