Naples 2-0 Sassuolo
Buts: Hysaj (8e) and Allan (93e)
A goal from Hysaj is more than rare.
It had only happened twice, before this Saturday: once with Empoli in the Italian second division in 2014, another with the selection of Albania in 2019 and never in Serie A. So, as much as the achievement that ‘he registered in the eighth minute is useful. In this case, it allowed Naples to win in the 36e day and keep in touch with the Top 6 in the standings (one point behind Milan, two over Roma).
Yet Đuričić almost screwed it up. After chances for Koulibaly and Zieliński or saves for Consigli (who also saw his post push back an attempt by Politano), the Serbian made Ospina’s nets tremble. But his two pawns were refused for offside, while the keeper put out some pretty saves. Hard to digest for the visitors, who are really not unworthy (despite a number of opportunities largely in favor of the favorites) and who leave San Paolo with a defeat in the socks. Especially since the Neapolitan cages still vibrated for nothing in the second act, Caputo paying the price for an illegal position by Berardi and … Berardi paying the price for an illegal position by Caputo. Worse, they cashed the break signed Allan in added time.
Or how a 1-4 can turn into 2-0, thanks to VAR.
