“Narcos” star Wagner Moura: “The enemy is the culture”

WORLD: How does the series “Narcos”, in which you played Pablo Escobar, fit into “Marighella”, her own film?

Wagner Moura: “Narcos” is a very political work. Talking about the history of drug trafficking in Latin America also speaks about the failure of the war on drugs. How this war, which is a policy of the United States, has hurt especially the countries that produce and export drugs here in Latin America; this war is taking place here, the youngsters are dying from the periphery in the name of this policy. Brazil is very isolated in Latin America. The fact of being in Colombia and telling the story that unites us all – Brazil, Colombia, Mexico – made me very much in the mood of Latinidade connected.
