The newly nominated rookie Robin Koch is surprisingly in the starting lineup of the German national team in the football international match against the two-time world champion Argentina.
The 23-year-old Bundesliga professional of SC Freiburg replaced in Dortmund the ill Berliner Niklas Stark in defense. Joachim Löw, who had been nominated after the retirement of Matthias Ginter, had not joined the national team until Tuesday.
Stark remained because of a gastrointestinal infection in the team hotel, as the DFB announced. The Hertha professional should actually make his debut in the DFB team as a side man of Niklas Süle in central defense. Second freshman in the German starting eleven is Koch's Freiburg club colleague Luca Waldschmidt.
The German team is led for the first time by the Munich Joshua Kimmich as captain. Because in the gate Marc-André ter Stegen may prove instead of Manuel Neuer. In addition to Waldschmidt storm the Munich Serge Gnabry and the Dortmund Julian Brandt.
