Russian prison authorities have imposed on the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, twelve months of punishment in a special cella day after Justice rejected the appeal of his 19-year sentence for extremism.
As reported this Wednesday by Navalni’s team on Telegram, “they have imposed the maximum possible penaltysweet months”.
This cell (EPKT) is considered in the Russian prison system “the greatest punishment” for an inmate, regardless of whether or not it is a maximum security prison.
Navalni assures that as soon as his appeal was rejected, he was transferred to the prison commission, where this punishment was imposed on him because he was an “incorrigible” prisoner.
“I feel like a exhausted rock star on the verge of depression. I have managed to reach the top of the hit list and I no longer aspire to anything. On the other hand, I did not rise to the top, but have fallen to the bottom. And there, as is well known, you can always fall even lower,” he commented.
