New Coronavirus Remedy Detected – Haqqin

An international team of scientists said that antibodies from llamas can block the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This was reported by the publication Medical Xpress with reference to a preprint of a study published on the website of the scientific journal Cell.

Researchers have linked two types of antibodies produced by the body of llamas to create a tool that binds to the key protein for the entry of coronavirus into a human cell. Initial tests showed that antibodies successfully block the penetration and reproduction of the virus. “This is one of the first antibodies that neutralizes SARS-CoV-2,” said Jason McLellan, associate professor of biological sciences at the University of Texas (USA).

Tests have shown that the antibodies obtained must be introduced into the human body in advance, like a normal vaccination. The drug was highly effective if it was introduced into a living organism at least one month before infection. Antibodies can also be used to treat patients with coronavirus to reduce the risk of complications.

One of the study participants – graduate student Daniel Wrapp (Daniel Wrapp) – said that the study started in 2016. Initially, for obvious reasons, the experts did not set the task of finding a cure for a new type of coronavirus: “This was an ordinary fundamental study.” As a result of the tests, antibodies obtained from the nine-month-old llama showed efficacy against SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV – related SARS-CoV-2 coronaviruses.

As planned by scientists, the resulting preparation could be administered to groups vulnerable to COVID-19, for example, pensioners or people with chronic diseases. Nevertheless, the conclusions of experts need scientific testing, the final version of the study will be published on May 5.
