New emojis are coming to Windows 11, but only in 2D

Microsoft has just announced the new build 22000.348 for Windows 11, which comes as a cumulative update available from Windows Update.
This build fixes many bugs in the system, but also brings new emojis, as the publisher had announced in July. These emojis benefit from a Fluent Design treatment to make them more visually appealing, but they are only in 2D.

Where are the 3D emojis announced by Microsoft? According to our colleagues from Windows Central, there was a misunderstanding during the July announcement. Indeed, Windows 11 emojis retain a 2D design and 3D design only concerns certain programs.
Thus, it is possible to use 3D emojis in Microsoft Teams, as well as in Skype. Another disappointment, the new 2D emojis with a Fluent Design treatments are only available in Windows 11 and Microsoft does not intend to implement them in Windows 10.

Finally, note that the update offered by Microsoft is optional, which means that it will not be installed automatically by Windows Update. It will therefore be necessary to carry out a search for updates and manually trigger the installation, or download it from the microsoft site.
