The League of the Quebec major junior hockey (QMJHL) hopes to begin its next season on October 1 with” a certain percentage of spectators “in the stands. The commissioner Gilles Courteau made the announcement during a video conference. Of course, the League of Ontario (OHL) and the Western League (WHL) will have the same objective.
The biggest surprise in this announcement relates to the hope that the QMJHL to play in front of spectators from the beginning of the season.
Courteau was mentioned that the committees are working on various plans for the relaunch of the circuit. Discussions were also held at government level and with public health officials, who will have the last word on the approval or not of the resumption of sporting activities.
The opening of the camps should therefore be done in September rather than in August. Thus, the beginning of the season would be delayed by approximately two weeks compared to the original timetable, which would mean that the season would end about two weeks later. Finally, the dates of the Memorial Cup could also be changed.
