Nintendo’s theme park grows. The Japanese company has confirmed that they are building a new area in the park Super Nintendo World, this time, based on the world of Donkey Kong, and could be even larger than the area starring Mario bros.
According to Nintendo, “This new area will feature a roller coaster, lots of interactive experiences, and themed merchandise and food. Visitors will be able to walk on the wild side of the jungle where Donkey Kong and his friends live. ” The theme park will grow “by 70%” approximately, the company explained, accompanying the announcement with a map showing which area will become the territory of the gorilla created by Shigeru Miyamoto that first appeared in the mythical game Donkey Kong 1981.
After several delays, the latest due to the pandemic, the Super Nintendo World theme park opened its doors in March 2021, although it had to temporarily close a month later due to a new increase in COVID-19 cases in the country. Currently traveling to Japan continues to be difficult due to local regulations, especially for tourists.
But without a doubt, thanks to its attractions and how it brings the world of Mario Bros to life, this park has become a dream destination for all the fans of video games, and the company plans to open attractions inspired by its franchises at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida, and at the Universal Studios park in Singapore. Miyamoto, in the release from Nintendo, commented that he was “very happy to make the world of Donkey Kong, just like we did with Mario’s world ”. The new section opená its doors in 2024.
