November 11th ceremonies: traffic restrictions in Paris

The celebration of the centennial of the 1918 armistice will lead dozens of heads of state and government in Paris for two official events on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11. Important security measures with limited traffic areas will be established.

Saturday 10, the President of the Republic and several heads of state and government will visit the Orsay museum to visit the exhibition "Blue and Pink Picasso" as a prelude to an official dinner. Among them are Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. A consequent security device was therefore provided.

The police prefecture had not yet said on Friday 9 roads to close the traffic. On the other side a "Perimeter Protection" with filtering points and within which the movement of people will be "Regulated" it has already been unveiled.

Sunday 11, a similar device will be set up around the Arc de Triomphe where the official commemoration of the 1918 armistice will take place. It will include the entire Avenue des Champs-Elysees, including its first roundabout and the Metti Clemenceau. Access will also be regulated on the roads leading to the Champs-Elysées up to a distance of 50 meters, as well as rue Tilsitt and rue de Presbourg.

Sixty heads of state and government, including Donald Trump, but also Vladimir Putin, Angela Merkel and Theresa May are expected in Paris this weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War. The four-year commemorative end point began in 2014, a century after the start of the world war with nearly nine million deaths.

Faced with this exceptional event and the Peace Forum, the Ministry of Interior stated that 10,000 security officers will be mobilized in Paris to ensure the presence of representatives and places of foreign events. The security perimeters and control measures will be installed around the various sites affected by the commemorations, according to the police prefecture.
