Now Entering Big Events Must Have COVID-19 Booster, Entering Malls Is the Same?

Jakarta

In response to the increasing return of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, which are now affected by the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants, the COVID-19 booster vaccination or the third dose is provided. Along with that, booster vaccines are now a requirement for citizens to take part in big events. What are the conditions like?

Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, explained that now residents who want to attend events with more than 1,000 visitors must have received an injection of the COVID-19 booster vaccine first. In particular, for residents aged 18 years and over.

“Special provisions for holding large events where participants exceed 1,000 people are the obligation to have booster vaccinations for ages 18 years and over and complete doses of vaccinations for ages 6-17 years,” he said in a live broadcast of ‘Covid-19 Handling Developments in Indonesia per 1 July 2022’, Friday (1/7/2022).

Entering the Mall Will You Have to Get a Booster?

Answering that, Prof. Wiku explained, until now the mandatory requirement for a booster is only for large events with more than 1,000 visitors. However, according to him, the government does not rule out the possibility that the mandatory requirement for boosters will be extended to other activities or places.

“So far, the obligation for booster vaccines is for people who want to attend large events with more than 1,000 participants. In the future, the government is open to regulatory dynamics, which of course reflects on the dynamics of cases. Please wait for the next decision,” concluded Prof. Wiku.
