A heavier battery, less efficient solar panels, a larger cabin. At first glance, the Nuna11 may seem like a step back from the NunaX. Yet this solar car is more aerodynamic and less controversial materials are used, the chief engineer tells Tweakers.
The most notable change to the Nuna11 revolves around the number of wheels. In fact, with the Nuna11, the Vattenfall Solar Team is going back to its roots. Like the first six Nunas, number eleven has three wheels instead of four. That’s because of the regulations. In recent years, quadricycles were mandatory, but the organization of the World Solar Challenge decided that tricycles are also possible this year.
