An American woman was arrested while trying to smuggle a baby from the Philippines by hiding the baby in her hand luggage, officials said.
Jennifer Erin Talbot, 43, attempted to board a Delta flight to Detroit with her child from Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday, NBC News reported.
During the security check, the 6-day child was discovered in his hand luggage, as reported by the store.
"[The] child was hidden in the large pouch and [she] did not declare or present at the immigration inspector during the departure formalities," immigration office officials told CNN Philippines.
Talbot told the officials that she was the child's aunt, but he had no documents to prove the relationship.
The National Bureau of Investigation has stated that it will probably file a child trafficking complaint against her, according to NBC News.
