The Englishman Paul Casey and the four-time winner Phil Mickelson are in a five-way position in the mid-way ranking of AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Mickelson, one behind the night, led by two before embalming three holes in succession, but birdied the last one at Spyglass Hill for a four under 68.

Casey joined him at 10 o'clock after collecting five rounds in four holes at a superb 64 at the Monterey's Shore course.

The game was suspended for the day after a flood with 44 players still to be finished.

The tee times were taken to avoid the storm, but the Pebble Beach players saw the greens impregnated by the deluge and the full cups up to the edge of rainwater while completing the lap in cold and windy conditions.

The three-time winner Jordan Spieth, without a title since his victory in the Open championship in 2017, has also reached the 10th place, but will have two holes to complete at Spyglass Hill at 07:10 local time on Saturday.

Scottish Russell Knox is five in the lead after a 70 at Spyglass Hill, to which was added Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell, who scored a 70 in Monterey.

Players play each at Pebble Beach, Monterey and Spyglass Hill in the first three days before the final round at Pebble on Sunday.

The third round of Saturday should start as planned at 08:00, after which the cut will be made, with the best 60 and qualifying for Sunday.
