JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Pertamina (Persero) is currently reviewing the use of fuel oil or BBM low-octane below 91, that is Premium and Pertalite.
President Director of Pretamina Nicke Widyawati explained that the review was carried out as a company effort to support the government’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 20 of 2017.
“The regulation implies that gasoline which is sold for a minimum of RON 91, meaning there are two BBM products that can then no longer be sold in the market, namely Premium (88) and Pertalite (90), “he said in the Opinion Hearing Meeting with Commission VII, Monday (31/8/2020).
This plan needs to be reviewed because the consumption portion of the two types of fuel is the largest of the six types of fuel that the company sells. On 22 August 2020, sales of Premium reached 24,000 Kilo liters (KL) and Pertalite 51,500 KL.
Meanwhile, sales of fuel with an RON above 91, namely Pertamax (92), are only 10,000 KL. Meanwhile Pertamax Turbo (98) is quite 700 KL.
“So, the impact of this needs to be studied again. We also encourage the consumption of people who are able to switch to environmentally friendly fuel,” said Nicke.

Moreover, said Nicke again, in Asia, currently only Indonesia and Bangladesh are still consuming the equivalent of Premium fuel. Meanwhile, at the world level there are five other countries, namely Colombia, Egypt, Mongolia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said that his party and related ministries were aggressively encouraging people to switch to using environmentally friendly fuels or above RON 91 in order to reduce carbon emissions.
This is because Indonesia is currently one of the six countries that still consume Premium. “In the future there will be a replacement for using cleaner energy. But of course this step requires preparation, ”he said recently.
