Péter Haumann: This is the last time I have performed on stage

I have a feeling that this is the last time I’ve performed on stage. I will still have acting, but no longer on stage. I have completed this part of my profession

Said RTL Focus in his show Peter Haumann after the one-fifth hundredth performance of Cats. The musical for the Madách Theater was premiered in 1983 and is still on display today, and Haumann has accompanied the life of the play from its premiere to its current anniversary performance.

The news of the actor’s retirement isn’t surprising, he already talked in June that he didn’t want to return to the stage, so Tus ’role in Cats was an exception in the first place. There is no reason for Peter Haumann to complain, during his career since the ’60s, he played major roles in theater history on the country’s stages, but his film and dubbing work is also memorable. The eighty-year-old actor is the Jászai Mari and Kossuth Prize winner, a worthy artist, a member of the Society of the Immortals, an actor of the nation, and the middle cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Two of his three children followed him into the acting career, Haumann Petra and Máté Haumann.
