Based on the comparison between the Poco F2 Pro and the OnePlus 8, we can conclude that there is a new flagship killer killer.
Earlier this week, Xiaomi subsidiary Poco unveiled the brand new Poco F2 Pro. The device is the successor of the iconic Poco F1. However, times have changed and the new potential flagship killer is quite a bit more expensive than when the F1 from 2018. The same applies to the recent OnePlus 8. But which is more value for money? In other words, which of these two Chinese flagship killers does the flagships kill the best?
At first sight it is difficult to answer. In any case, the two device run on the same, exceptionally powerful Snapdragon 865. With that, the biggest difference maker is arguably already out of sight. The display of the two is also almost identical. However, we must mention that the OnePlus 8 has a higher refresh rate; 90Hz versus 60Hz.
New flagship killer in town
That is not to say that they are two identical devices. The OnePlus 8 comes with a maximum of 12GB RAM, which can make a difference in practice – certainly under heavy load. In contrast, the Poco F2 Pro has a slightly larger battery, a better camera setup and most importantly, a 3.5mm headphone jack. The only thing missing is an IP68 rating. That is quite a shame.
All that together may not be convincing, but the conclusion cannot be ignored even for this OnePlus owner. The Poco F2 Pro is a better device for the price than the OnePlus 8. The most expensive Poco F2 Pro goes for € 599, while the OnePlus 8 only starts at € 699. Yes, then you get a slightly “faster” screen, but it was.
In short, there is a new flagship killer in town. Well, at least we can call the Poco F2 Pro the flagship killer killer. Because as the Samsung Galaxy S20 vs OnePlus 8 comparison showed, you also get a lot extra for a higher price of the Samsung device. But between the Poco and OnePlus, that price difference cannot be justified.
