PEKANBARU, KOMPAS.com – The Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Police have named two suspects in the case of the sinking of the SB Evelyn Calisca ship in the waters of Inhil Regency, Riau.
The Inhil Police Chief, AKBP Norhayat said, the two people named as suspects had the initials SH and A.
“Two people have been named as suspects. The suspects SH are the captain of the Evelyn and A who had replaced SH driving the ship,” Norhayat told reporters via WhatsApp message, Sunday (30/4/2023).
Norhayat explained that, after verification, the number of passengers on the ship was 83 people. Of that number, 71 people survived and 12 passengers died.
“The capacity of the information ship is for 66 people, but there are 72 seats. At the time of the incident the ship was carrying 83 people,” said Norhayat.
In the previous news, the SB Evelyn Calisca ship sank in the waters of Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency, Riau, Thursday (27/4/2023).
The Evelyn ship departs from Pelindo Tembilahan Port with the aim of Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands, at 10.40 WIB.
The ship departs in accordance with the Sailing Approval Letter (SPB) issued by Syahbandar Tembilahan.
The ship’s captain Sahran and 5 crew members (ABK). According to the Tembilahan manifest list, the number of passengers was 45 adults and 6 children.
At around 13.10 WIB, the ship stopped at Sei Guntung Harbor, Kateman District, Inhil, and picked up 6 passengers.
Next, the ship continued its journey with skipper Acok, because Sahran wanted to rest and have lunch.
After 15 minutes off the rope from Sei Guntung Harbor, at around 13.25 WIB, in the waters of Air Tawar Village, Kateman District, the ship hit a floating log which caused the ship to capsize.
