The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed the reason why the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) or contactless cashless toll transaction system has not been implemented during the 2023 Eid homecoming.
According to the Secretary General (Secretary General) of the PUPR Ministry Mohammad Zainal Fatah, if the latest system is implemented during the Lebaran homecoming period, it will cause new problems.
“If we try the new system in a perfect situation, it will even create new problems. Because, the change is not possible, that’s why we tested it in limited situations first,” explained Zainal in Jakarta, Monday (20/3/2023) .
So, how far have the Ministry of PUPR’s preparations gone with regards to implementing the first trial of the MLFF next June?

Since President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially announced the transfer of the National Capital (IKN) from Jakarta to East Kalimantan, a number of infrastructure developments have started.
The development includes the State Palace, the minister’s office site, and several ministry office buildings.
The relocation of the IKN, as stated by Jokowi, is to reduce the burden on Jakarta and Java Island, especially in terms of population density, already severe traffic jams and air and water pollution.
Seeing these reasons, the Government should not repeat the same mistake in planning and implementing development in Jakarta so far.
Then, what action should be taken by the Government?
