The metallic gray of the chassis plays the card of sobriety.

When the screen appears, we immediately notice that while this laptop is yoga, it does not belong to the convertible family. Its screen therefore cannot be opened 360 degrees and is limited to 180 degrees, which means that the screen can already be placed flat.
The 16: 9 aspect ratio screen takes up 82% of the front panel – the average for laptops is around 80%. We would have preferred a 16:10 or 3: 2 screen like this Dell XPS 13 where the Huawei MateBook 14 for thinner edges and better integration.
For its part, the keyboard is simply excellent. Lenovo’s craftsmanship lies in these characteristically shaped keys with rounded bottom edges. Your stroke is very good and makes it easy to use in long sessions.
No fingerprint reader on our test model; However, it is available as an option. However, you can authenticate quickly using the Windows Hello compatible infrared camera in the upper corner of the screen.
The connection is quite diverse for an ultraportable. There are two USB-C, two USB-A, one HDMI, one headphone output, and a microSD card reader. As usual, we would have liked an SD card reader, because it is compatible with microSD via an adapter.
The charging process takes place via USB-C with a 65 watt adapter.
In our test model we find an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor and 8GB LPDDR4-4266 memory, which unfortunately is soldered to the motherboard. A bad point for scalability.
However, this Yoga Slim 7 offers a rare argument for ultraportables: two M.2 slots to increase storage capacity. However, be careful when the slot occupied is in the usual 2280 format, the free slot is in the shorter 2242 format. It is a less common format and therefore compatible with a smaller number of SSDs.

And the shows are also well run because they are inaudible most of the time. Even at full throttle, the fans don’t go over 41dB – with an audible sound signature, but very even and non-obtrusive.
Our Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 review is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500 U processor (6 cores / 6 threads, base frequency 2.3 GHz, turbo up to 4 GHz). This allows it to be placed on the Intel Core i7-10510U, which is in the Huawei MateBook 14. On the other hand, it bows to the Ryzen 7 4700UAcer Swift 3 SF314-42.

In summary, if performance is necessarily compromised a little with a thermal envelope of less than 30W, it will compete with that of the Intel and Ryzen H-series processors, with the limit set at 45 watts.
This processor is therefore able to silently manage the use of multimedia, Internet browsing and even photo or video editing.
The graphics part (AMD Radeon Vega 6) also does not disappoint in the game and allows you to familiarize yourself with the 55 fps Overwatcheven in the busiest passages. With Diablo 3the average is 32 fps (detail set to “high”). However, it’s not a game for dedicated cards, even for entry-level cards like the Nvidia GeForce MX350 shown in the Huawei MateBook 14.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7’s screen is a 14-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The margins are a bit wide at the top and bottom of the screen for our liking.
Apart from this, the plate offers good color performance. We found a Delta E of 1.6 which is a sign of perfect color rendering – the colors are estimated to be true to the original if the Delta E is below 3. The color temperature was measured at 6938K, which is slightly below the video standard (6500K), but that doesn’t prevent it from creating a screen suitable for all types of graphics.
Our measurements also show a very good contrast (1971: 1), which unfortunately is affected by the glossy coating and can turn the screen into a real mirror in the brightest environments (average reflectivity 48%). And the maximum brightness of the panel, which is relatively low (376 cd / m²), unfortunately does not allow this effect.
Finally, the screen persistence is measured at 20ms, which avoids the effects of blurring around moving objects on the screen. No problem so watch a movie.
