There is already a date for the swearing-in of the Constitution of the Princess of Asturias. will be next 31 October in a plenary session of Congress and Saturday. The date coincides with the day the Princess turns 18 yearsso it complies with the plans provided for in the Constitution, in article 61.2, which establishes that the heir must swear the Magna Carta “upon reaching the age of majority.”

Precisely that paragraph prompted the President of the Government on several occasions to ensure that the date could be indicative, and not the birthday itself. Doña Leonor will finally be sworn in on the same day as her anniversary. This was decided by Zarzuela and Congress in a meeting held last Thursday at the initiative of the president of the Lower House, Francina Armengol. Also participating in the meeting were Pedro Rollanpresident of the Senate, the Government and the House, according to Zarzuela sources.

After the event in Congress, it is planned that Princess Leonor will receive the Collar of the Order of Charles III in the Royal Palace in the presence of the powers of the State and that a lunch will then be held with a representation of the highest authorities of the State.

After the swearing-in, and to celebrate such an important day, the Kings will have a private party at the Pardo Palace to which they will invite all their relatives.

Of course, among the guests will be King Juan Carlos, whom Don Felipe and Doña Letizia are waiting for at the private celebration in El Pardo. It will be the second time that the father of the head of state has set foot in Madrid since he left Spain on August 4, 2020. Since then, the Emeritus returned to the capital for only one day, to maintain “ample time of conversation” with Felipe VI, in which the King explained the damage caused to the Crown by his actions.
