PSG spends IDR 312 billion for a change of coach

Paris

Paris Saint Germain will replace Mauricio Pochetino with Christophe Galtier. For that, Les Parisiens had to sacrifice Rp 312 billion.

Pochettino is still under contract until 2023. However, he will not complete his stay because PSG are already disappointed with his achievements.

Apart from failing to lead the club to glory in the Champions League, Pochettino has now lost control in the dressing room because top players don’t like him. Therefore, the management decided to change the coach this summer.

Before sacking Pochettino, PSG first looked for a replacement and already got it, namely Nice coach Christophe Galtier. Nice had already announced Galtier’s departure when they appointed Lucien Favre as his successor earlier this week.

To attract Galtier, PSG had to spend 4-5 million euros so that the remaining two years of his contract could be redeemed. It is estimated that Galtier will be unveiled in the next few days.

The reason is that PSG is still processing Pochettino’s dismissal letter, especially regarding severance pay. Pochettino asked for 15 million euros (Rp 235 billion) to compensate for his sacking.

That does not include the 2 million euro bonus. As a result, PSG had to spend a total of 20 million euros (Rp 312 billion) to kick him out Mauricio Pochettino and hooked up with Galtier.

Christophe Galtier is a coach other than Leonardo Jardim, who was able to break PSG’s dominance over the last decade in Ligue 1. Galtier won the league title in 2021 with Lille.
